What the numbers mean

IAQ — indoor air quality

  • 0–50Excellent
  • 51–100Good
  • 101–150Lightly polluted
  • 151–200Moderately polluted
  • 201–250Heavily polluted
  • 251–350Severely polluted
  • 351–500Extremely polluted

IAQ accuracy

How far the gas sensor has got through its self-calibration. The IAQ, CO₂ and bVOC figures only become meaningful once this reaches 1.

  • 0Algorithm not yet calibrated — the reading is not reliable
  • 1Low accuracy
  • 2Medium accuracy
  • 3High accuracy
How it works

🌡️
MeasureA BME680 sensor connected to an ESP32 measures temperature, humidity, pressure and gas resistance. Bosch BSEC2 processes these measurements to estimate indoor air quality (IAQ), CO₂ equivalent and bVOC equivalent.
📶
PublishThe ESP32 joins the WiFi and publishes all seven values as one JSON message to an MQTT broker, over an encrypted connection.
🗄️
CollectOur server subscribes to the broker and keeps a rolling seven days of readings.
📈
ShowThis page asks the server for the data and draws the graph you see above.
